I am anxiously waiting for my newest girls to be delivered. I have Kit and #23 due to arrive today. I can't decide on a name for #23 though. I hate naming my dolls. How do you get inspired to pick out a name? Do you have it chosen before the girl arrives, or wait until after you meet her to get an idea of what her name should be?
I have a few names that I have considered, but I am just not sure. Do you bother with a middle name too?

I usually scan baby names sites and read the meanings. I also try to think about her personality, where she will be from etc. I give my dolls both first and middle names.
Scarlet Rose (agot 10) was named long before I owed her. Her dark brown hair and bright green eyes always reminded me of Scarlet O'Hara. The funny thing is - my Scarlet is nothing like her name sake.
I think the naming part is SO much fun. Good Luck.

I try to think of people I know that I would want her to be like. Then I'll name her after them or use a variation.
My favorite Teddy Bear is named Benjamin after the dog Benji.
I have another bear that I named David after my uncle.

I forgot to include some of my doll names...
Bitty Baby is Charlotte Renee because Charlotte's Web was my favorite movie as a child, and I have a 21" baby doll named Lissi Caitlin because she is a german Lissi doll.

Naming is the best part of getting (or thinking about) a new doll!
My dolls are usually named after characters from books that I like or names I like but will never give to my future children.
I also take into consideration where and when the girl will be from, no Danish girls named Grace or 1800 girls named Benson

Just got back from work and found the box waiting for me. So I am off to open it. Thanks for the suggestions. I will re-read them after I get her out of the box.
I really like the name Jaycee, but my daughter doesn't. I value her opinion, but it does make the naming tough since I think we pretty much have different opinions on the naming. Jennessy is also a name that I like. Maybe my problem is that I have used my favorite names already on other dolls.
I'll let you know when her name is decided. I am taking pictures too to start an album.

I have a huge book of baby names. I flip it open randomly, close my eyes, and slam a finger down, and get a name. This is how I named one of my OOAK Baby Face (Kiara) and some of my book characters.
